High Risk Student Solutions
Eduvelop serves students in reading and mathematics. High risk student populations served are low-income, minority, migrant, limited English-proficient and students with learning challenges.
Reading
To address the student with deficiencies in reading we use a unique selection of several correct answers and many wrong options. This selection intermixture characteristic reinforces the need for the student to carefully read and reread the stories and questions. High risk students need more exposure to evaluate the response options. Each time the student reads the story and reviews the questions the selection of answers will be different. High risk students especially benefit from this recurrence, and until comprehension is achieved, will find the material fresh yet familiar.
Math
Those having trouble with mathematics usually have a poor understanding of the basic rules. Once students have developed a reasonable comfort level with the procedures that are associated with the proper treatment of the basic mechanics (algorithms), mathematics is no longer the significant obstacle that it once was.
With Eduvelop the high risk student is able to have access to the courseware 24/7. The courseware provides immediate feedback correcting the student before there is time for the wrong concept to be mentally adopted.
There is an absence of threat or competition from other students with Eduvelop as the child works with his own program. This helps the student to relax, becoming less defensive so that learning and reflective thinking can thrive uninhibited.
