Career Options After Class 12th

This poem by Robert Frost best describes the dilemma of a student who just completed the 12th boards and is waiting for the ISC results, CBSE results or for the other State board results. Choosing that best suitable option from innumerous options is really not a piece of cake since these decisions alone will shape the future and career of the students.

Deciding the best career option is really important for the future. It is also equally important to know various career perspectives to be able to properly decide the right path.  Let’s take a view for various career options for the students of different departments.

  • Engineering Courses:

This is one of the most sought after courses for the students with the science background. Excellent career options and opportunities are available in abundance. The IITs and NITs are one of the most prestigious colleges worldwide for engineering. Candidates can join engineering by giving JEE exam and various other tests by Universities.

There are many departments that can be taken like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, etc.

  • Medical Courses:

The medical courses are one of the most competitive courses as this provides the entry to the different medical departments to be undertaken. The candidates with Biology in 12th can apply for the medical exams and take up various options like MBBS, BDS, etc.

  • Professional Courses:

The professional courses or the bachelor courses are a much-diversified course like the science courses (Physics, Maths, etc.), Arts (History, Languages, etc.), Media sciences, etc.

  • Computer and Information Technology:

The computer and Information technology are already the engineering courses, but apart from that, various other related courses like Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Web designing, software programmers, application developers, etc.

  • Architecture:

The architecture studies can be taken up by the science students after qualifying the entrance test. The Bachelor of Architecture is presently a very sought after fields.

  • Chartered Accountancy:

The basic foundation course conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India can be undertaken and then the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) can be taken.

  • Merchant Navy:

The students can avail the post for desk cadets after the 12th. The merchant Navy also provides good career opportunities with good salary. The Engineering fields are eligible to the students having a bachelor degree.

  • Astronomy:

Students with a good base in physics can take up astronomy as an excellent career option. This requires the students to take up Bachelor degrees in Physics and Masters in any Astronomical subjects like Astrophysics, Meteorology, etc.

  • Mass Communication and Journalism:

The students wishing to become Journalists and take up different such roles should join these courses and get a good career ahead.

  • Fashion and Design courses:

This is one more excellent course for the those aspiring to become fashion designers, fashion marketing, etc.

  • Defence:

This is one on of the most prestigious career option as serving the nation is the most important duty of every citizen. Students can give NDA and other exams to get into the Army, Navy and Air Force and take up roles of Pilots, soldiers and other such important technical and nontechnical roles.

Making the right choices may not be easy sometimes but a thoughtful decision should be made by properly analyzing the interest and career perspective. Making random choices never yields expected results and so take time and think before jumping to any decision.
